Tea book pages- inspired by Downton Abbey

So I have come to my final contribution in the altered book swap. The theme is 'Tea' and it was fun being the last one to add my work so I could enjoy the book in its completed state before sending it home to its owner.

A few of Nature's best to mark the end of Summer

We had a sudden resurgence of summer weather in late August bringing temps in the 90's!  My morning glory plant finally produced a flower ( it has been a huge mess of vines all summer) and we had some winged visitors fluttering about the menarda flowers.  There was a Giant Swallowtail and a Hummingbird moth who let me hang out and snap their pic's!

Long Overdue! New Art and Updates

Yes!  I has really been over 6 months since my last post...  It has been a rough and emotionally taxing time for our family ( both my mom and mother-in-law are battling serious illness), so I am doing my best to be creative, stay healthy and find 'my happy place' whenever I can.  I knit always, Zumba as much as I can fit in- and I am venturing back into jewelry making ( this time bead stitching!) so keep learning something new.

Here are the fruits of my labor and learning!
First off, here are the book pages I created for the Round Robin ( which is one book away from being complete!)  These pages are for a book called 'Music: Lose Control'  and I could NOT resist doing a homage to my club days!  The pages are all about dance, electronic music and how much delight going out brought to me during the mid 80's- early 90's when life revolved around new music, fabulous club gear and dancing until the shin splints were unbearable ( in my Doc Marten's of course!)

I'm on a roll- even MORE new ART!!!!

Yes- fall always brings out the activity in the creative half of my brain.  Whether it's right or left is still to be determined...(since I am left handed and supposedly backwards!).
Okay- so the theme for this work is a book called 'Precipice', which was absolute eye-candy to behold and I can only hope that my additions do it justice.  I tried something new- paper mosaic and creating images with paper, not relying on any existing imagery.  Owls are my theme since they are so mysterious and elusive.  Occasionally I see a dark shadow of a Great Horned Owl in the bare trees on our yard and I marvel at how big they are.  Their sound is so haunting and gothic too- okay, I have a dark side!  Enjoy these owls .Occasionally I see a dark shadow of a Great Horned Owl in the bare trees on our yard and I marvel at how big they are.  Their sound is so haunting and gothic too- okay, I have a dark side!  Enjoy these owls .

NEW Art- FINALLY!!!!!

These pages were created for a Book called 'More Than Words'.  I chose a quote that comes from the Baz Luhrman film "Strictly Ballroom", which is one of my all time favorites.  The quote is 'Vivir con miedo es come vivid a medias!' ( Interpreted in the film as 'A life lived in fear is a life half-lived'.)  I think this is a valid thing to consider in this day and age, where it's actually quite difficult to not live your life with a bit of fear of what's around the corner.  There are wonderful things to experience out there- and leaving the fears behind is the first step toward living and actively participating in what life has to offer'.

Stephen West Rockefeller Shawl

This is my finished shawl from the Ravelry KAL.  I wore it to Stitches Midwest this weekend and got lots of positive feedback from several of the attendees.  Amazing how popular Stephen West's designs are- he's brilliant!
